Computing and E-Safety

These documents set out our school policy on social networking and e safety. Please also refer to the school Safeguarding policy. New technologies are an integral part of our lives and are powerful tools which open up teaching and learning opportunities for schools staff in many ways. These documents aim to:
  • Assist schools staff working with children to work safely and responsibly with the internet and other communication technologies and to monitor their own standards and practice
  • Set clear expectations of behaviour and/or codes of practice relevant to social networking for educational, personal or recreational use
  • Give a clear message that unlawful or unsafe behaviour is unacceptable and that, where appropriate, disciplinary or legal action will be taken
  • Support safer working practice
  • Minimise the risk of misplaced or malicious allegations made against adults who work with pupils
  • Reduce the incidence of positions of trust being abused or misused
Sexting
Someone taking an indecent image of themselves and sending to their friends or boy / girlfriend via a mobile phone or some other form of technology is sometimes referred to as ‘Sexting’. Young people need to be aware that they could potentially be distributing illegal child images. Staff working at Milborne First school will ensure that they are aware of the risks associated with the use of the internet and how to respond appropriately to a ‘Sexting’ incident. We know this can cause enormous distress to children and young people and may place them at risk of sexual grooming and other risks associated with the internet.
