Meet our Governors
It is my privilege to be Chair of Governors at Milborne St. Andrew First School, with a devoted team
who work hard to share their expertise in helping to guide our school forward. In my day job, I head
up safety, risk management and safeguarding for Europe’s leading health, sport and leisure group.
My wife and I live locally, and we have a daughter, who is a current pupil at Milborne St. Andrew
First School, and a son who is now at Middle School. As a Governing Body, our purpose is to ensure
that a high quality of education is being provided, in a safe and nurturing environment. We take
responsibility for the strategic development of the school by monitoring progress and challenging
the school leadership team to maintain the excellent standards, ethos, and performance expected at
Milborne St. Andrew First School. The Governors work very closely with Mrs Cheeseman and the
whole school team, supporting them in their commitment to providing every Milborne pupil with
the best possible education and strengthen their confidence and self-esteem, to help further their
personal development and potential.

David has lived locally for over 20 years and been a Governor at the School since early 2018. Prior to
retirement he was a Director of Hall & Woodhouse with responsibility for the Beer business. Since
retiring David has taken on various non-Executive Director and Trustee positions. He also is a mentor
for two Dorset local businesses.

I am delighted to be a governor at Milborne First School; it is a genuine privilege to have the
opportunity to work with and support such a dedicated and professional team of staff. In my
working life, I am Director of School Improvement for Wessex Multi-Academy Trust, following a
number of years as both a teacher and senior leader in several schools, including the Thomas Hardye
School in Dorchester. This role allows me the privilege of working with many of our local schools
and with a great many exceptional teachers and school staff. The variety of my job means that I am
continuously learning and I hope I can use these insights to the advantage of Milborne School. I live
in Milborne with my wife, Tamasine, and three children Isaac (16), Arthur (14) and Clementine (11).
My children are all lucky enough to be at our local schools, and we are tremendously appreciative of
the superb education and opportunities this brings them.

I am a father of a daughter who is in year 4 at Milborne St. Andrew First School and I cannot speak
highly enough of the teaching, care and support the school have provided. I love seeing how much
my daughter enjoys the school, and the way she has grown as a person during her time here. I run
my own business but worked for seven years as a secondary school teacher and it is a privilege to be
able to use some of his knowledge in my role as a governor, contributing to the school’s continued
mission to help our children grow, learn and flourish.

I moved to Milborne St Andrew with my husband when my daughter (who attends the school) was
small having been brought up in Weymouth. In my professional life I am a Wills and Probate
Solicitor. I believe that Milborne St Andrew First School is a welcoming, enjoyable and fun place for
children to thrive and learn and I hope to bring fresh new ideas to the school that will help maintain
the extremely high standards already in place. I am also keen to ensure that the head of school and
all staff members feel fully supported so they can maintain their hard work and commitment to the
school.
